Milford – Paul Markakis, 89, of Milford died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012 in the Milford Care and Rehabilitation Center of Milford. He was the husband of Irene Lydia (Miller) Markakis.
Mr. Markakis was the owner of First Class Shoe Repair on Jefferson St.in Milford for 52 years until his retirement in 1997.
Paul was born Oct. 29, 1922 in Milford the son of the late George and Jennie (Linardos) Markakis and had attended Milford schools.
Mr. Markakis was a veteran of WW II serving in the US Army.
Mr. and Mrs. Markakis observed their 50th wedding anniversary on March 24, 2011.
Paul was an avid fan of all Boston sports teams.
In addition to his wife Irene, he is survived by one son; Ronald and his wife Carole Foley of Charlton, two grandchildren; Brian Foley and Kevin Foley, two sisters; Virginia Luby of Myrtle Beach, SC. And Vivian Martello of CT and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life with Eucharist will be held Fri. March 2, 2012 at 12 Noon in the Trinity Episcopal Church, 17 Congress St., Milford, 01757.
Visiting hours will be held Fri. from 10 -11:30 AM in the BUMA-SARGEANT FUNERAL HOME, 42 Congress St., Milford prior to the funeral service.
Burial with full military honors will follow in Vernon Grove Cemetery, Milford
