Delmar R. Kidd,90, of 125 Sheryl Drive, died Thursday,March 1, at Radius Healthcare in Worcester. His wife, Marion L. Kidd, died in 2007. He is survived by his six children: Susanne McKeon,Sheryl Corsello, Gary Kidd, Delmar Kidd II, Jon Kidd, and Robin Kidd ; nine grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
Born in Gas City,KS on June 1, 1921, the son of Charles and Beatrice (Steele) Kidd. His parents died when he was very young and he lived with relatives in many states until he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps at sixteen years old. He joined the Navy when he turned eighteen and served as a First Class Radioman for the next six years travelling all over the world until his discharge in 1946.
He met his future wife, Marion, in Providence while on leave and they settled in Whitinsville where he started Kidd Laundry at Plummer's Corner. In 1953, he saw a need for affordable housing for veterans and working people and became a dealer for the National Homes Corporation selling prefabricated homes. He dedicated his life to building and built many roads and homes throughout southeastern Massachusetts. He was known for his fairness and his ready smile.He will be missed.
