Dorothy E. Simmons
Douglas – Dorothy E. (Horton) Simmons, 91, of Douglas died Sat. April 21, 2012 in the St. Camillus Health Center, Whitinsville.
Mrs. Simmons was employed as a housemaid by the Rockefeller Family in Albany, NY for 8 years before retiring in 1985 to care for her mother. During WW II, she worked for an aircraft company in New York.
Dorothy was born May 1, 1920 in Grafton, NY the daughter of the late Fred and Vera J. (Agan) Horton. She had been a resident of Stottsville, NY and Whitinsville before moving to Douglas 12 years ago.
Dorothy was an avid bingo player and enjoyed bowling at her beloved St. Camillus Health Center.
Mrs. Simmons is survived in Massachusetts by one nephew, Pastor Timothy S. and his wife Alfreda Horton of Douglas and three great nephews; Timothy J. Horton and Marcus E. Horton, both of Douglas and Aaron J. Horton of Gordon College, Wenham, MA. She was predeceased by her sister, Irene Fye and three brothers, John, Clifford and Fred Horton.
A Memorial Service will be held on Fri. April 27, 2012 at 10 AM in the Pine Street Baptist Church, 41 Pine St. Milford, 01757.
Graveside services will be held on Sat. April 28, 2012 in Grafton, NY.
