Hopedale - Richard Dick Robinson, 77, a longtime resident of Hopedale, MA passed away Thursday morning August 9, 2012. He was born March 18, 1935 to Robert J. Robinson & Sarah E. Winn of Cambridge MA.
Dick was married to Carolyn Joyce Wallace (of Somerville) for 54 years. Together they raised five children. He was an industrial arts teacher at Nipmuc Regional High School in Upton, MA for 30 years and also owned and operated the R.E. Robinson and Sons Pool Company.
Helping others and reaching out to his community was where he found his purpose in life. Always ready with a joke or story for any situation, Dick was relied on for support and encouragement by family and countless friends and acquaintances. He was a friend of Bill W. for almost 40 years and contributed by organizing numerous meetings for people to join and help one another. He welcomed so many people in need into his home and spent many hours at his kitchen table helping them through their struggles.
He is survived by his son Mark and wife Nadine of Uxbridge, MA, son Richard Jr. and wife Marie of CT, daughter Lyn (Morris) and husband Rick of Stafford, VA and son Jeffrey of Kansas City, KS. Dick was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn (March 2012) and son Christopher. He leaves behind his most cherished treasure, his grandchildren - David, Shawn, and Lauren Robinson of Uxbridge, MA, Mark and Jennifer Robinson of CT and Kaley and Mara Morris of Boston, MA.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday August 15, 2012 from 6 8 PM in the Buma Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress St., Milford, MA.
Graveside services will be held Sat. August 18, 2012 at 11 AM in Hopedale Village Cemetery, Rte. 16, Hopedale.
In lieu of flowers or donations Dick would appreciate that all who knew him simply provide their understanding, assistance or an act of kindness to anyone who lives with addiction. And remember to live life one day at a time.
